Remedy Church is an experimental church.
This is not a shocking revelation. From the very beginning of our church planting adventure, we have been shameless about our mission as a Going, Being, Doing church. We have also been swift to experiment when we recognize an opportunity that aligns with our mission as a covenant people. In fact, we believe that the Church (every church, everywhere) should be the most innovative place for experimentation on Planet Earth!
The best experiments are experiments on purpose.
They are done with rigor and intent. They are measured. They are designed to either fail or create an approach that can be scaled.
+ Seth Godin (Getting Serious About Experimentation)
We desire to be sensitive to the movement of the Holy Spirit and to be postured and ready to act upon the “right” opportunities for intentional experimentation. After months of prayer, conversations with church elders and leaders around the greater Salisbury area, careful research about what has been tried before in our culture, and strategic planning with our church leadership… we have launched a beautiful new experiment!
Sundays at 6:30pm for the Fall of 2013, Remedy Church has launched a worship gathering which will echo the mission of Remedy (as expressed weekly in our Sunday morning worship gathering) and provide an opportunity for us to multiply ourselves in every way. Our elders and planting team have created a few guiding principles to help us shape and measure this church planting experiment. I will share some of these principles and our experiences here on my blog as this experiment progresses.
In the meantime, may I ask the following of you?
Will you consider how you may become involved alongside us?
As with any Gospelplanting endeavor in the Kingdom, this experiment will require greater sacrifice from many in our church community, within our network, and within my family. This worship gathering is not simply a second service… we are striving to multiply Remedy Church on every level of planting leadership, and praying that this worship gathering would begin to develop its’ own influence in our city. For this experiment to grow sustainably, we need many who love Remedy Church to join with us in creative and innovative ways. How would you like to become involved?
+ Will you pray with us?
The elders and planting leaders of Remedy Church are striving to learn from the ancestors of our faith (like Jonah) about waiting on God and about getting ahead of God. And we are always seeking to learn from the experiences of other churches in our network, as well as our own past failures and successes in experimentation. We need God’s wisdom during this new season of experimentation. We have always needed your prayers… and this season is no different. Will you pray each Sunday night at 6:30pm (eastern) for our elders and planting leaders at Remedy Church, all those who are attending this new worship gathering, and for the City of Salisbury in which we are planting?
